How To Restore Windows 8 Fonts Back To Default

Have you accidently installed a new font to your Windows 8 Installation, or deleted something and it all looks horribly wrong?

If so you can now restore your entire Windows 8 font folder back to the factory default install setting by following this brief guide

Step 1

  1. Open This Pc
  2. Double Click C:\
  3. Navigate to the Windows Folder
  4. Now navigate to the Fonts Folder, it should look like this

Once here minimise the window and continue with Step 2 below

Step 2

  1. Download our Windows 8 Default Fonts.zip file
  2. Extract this .zip file
  3. Once extracted open the folder
  4. Select all of the fonts in this folder by pressing ctrl + a
  5. Now copy all of the fonts in this folder by pressing ctrl + c

Now you have copied all of these fonts you will need to return to Step 1 above

Step 3

Once you are back in the main Windows fonts folder after carrying out step 1 above, you will need to do the following

  1. Select all of the fonts in this folder by pressing ctrl + a
  2. Once all selected, you will need to press the delete key or you can right click and select delete
  3. Accept any confirmation windows that may appear

Step 4

Now you are ready to restore the original Windows installation fonts

  1. You should already be in the main Windows fonts folder as outlined in step 1, and pictured
  2. Now all you need to do is press ctrl + v or right click and choose paste

This will now install all of the fonts you have selected after completing Step 2 above, once installed your Windows 8 fonts will be restored back to the factory default position, and any font errors you had will be corrected.
