Switch between multiple email accounts and dozens of integrated apps + service extensions
If like us you have multiple email accounts spread out across the ether, and use a multitude of online services and various apps+browser extensions?. If so then welcome ‘Shift’ to the mix. Finally, you can free yourself from time-consuming tasks, and switch between all of those browser tabs and various extensions!
But don’t get us wrong, Google has made it better to switch between accounts lately, but it can still be irritating when operating with multiple Google Drive accounts for instance. Shift is here to make things better. A lot better in fact. Getting started is pretty simple, sign up for the program and you will get an exclusive download link. The downloadable app has two selling points – seamlessly switching between multiple Gmail accounts, and switching between navigating between Mail, Calendar and Drive reports. Mostly, it is a supercharged version of the G-Suite, with all the features you wished the online version has. Once installed, the program will run you through the usual drill of linking your accounts.
A big Shift
There is a free and a premium version of the app, with the most significant difference being the number of accounts that can be added. The premium version, priced at just $99.99 a year, allows for unlimited reports, while the free version caps you at two. A monthly plan may be coming soon, according to the Shift website.
One customer review on the Shift website compares it to Slack because of the seamless desktop application that allows for bouncing between multiple channels at once. Shift also offers native desktop notifications, so you can see exactly what’s going on in your inbox and not miss any new messages.
Take a virtual tour now
The benefits of Shift are apparent, and the above virtual tour video shows you all of the fantastic features that are available inside one incredible desktop application.
Currently, our agency bounces between a handful of Gmail accounts using Apple Mail, but switching between several different Drive accounts can be complicated. For a Google-lover, Shift is an exceptional solution. The design is clean, the functions are intuitive, and most importantly for me, it is an improvement from the glitchy and clunky Apple Mail.
Shift lets you access various accounts seamlessly, no more waiting for the web page to load and no more entering the credentials every time. This feature is super useful for folks who use two or more Gmail accounts. What’s even more assuring is that the UI is clutter free and has scope for some decent customisations.
The search option lets us scan through folders, emails, and documents. Helping our designers save a reasonable amount of time spent manually examining the content and hunting for information. This functionality is especially useful when you don’t remember which account you received a specific attachment. One search is all you need.
So the Shift functionality is not just restricted to emails but also Calendar and Drives. For instance, let’s say you have linked your personal Gmail and work Gmail account. In this case, if you want to switch between the calenders, it’s super easy. Just select the accounts and go to the calendar.
Well, to be frank, everyone can be overwhelmed by the number of desktop notifications. Lately, all the apps including Slack, WhatsApp web and even Facebook keep beaming the notifications. Now with Shift, it is almost impossible for you to miss out on urgent emails and other related announcements. If you find this an annoyance, fret not, just turn off the feature in the settings.
The program lets you link your Outlook Email, and this is of prime importance for folks who are in using enterprise ids. Most of the more important organisations use Outlook for emails, and thankfully the makers of Shift have considered this. That said as of now it seems that the option to sync Outlook is available only on the Pro version of the app.
Support for a multitude of Operating Systems
Windows/Mac/Linux: If you use multiple Gmail accounts, you’re used to having to open several tabs for everything. Shift alleviates this problem by opening up several accounts in one handy desktop client.
Don’t take our word for it
Don’t just take our word for it, you can download the application free of charge now trial it out with the necessary free features and if like us you are sold, then you can subscribe to the premium version straight away from inside the app!
